How does insulation work?
Insulation works by stopping the flow of air into and out of a house. Meaning, when the sun in the summer beats down on to the house and warms the air, insulation will stop the heat from penetrating into your home, thus keeping your home cooler in the summer. Likewise in the winter, insulation keeps the cold air from penetrating your home, thus keeping it warmer in the winter.

What’s the difference between Cellulose & Fiberglass?
Difference in how it works: Cellulose is a closed cell product that is very dense and blocks heat out. Fiberglass is an open cell product that traps and holds heat within the body of the insulation.

Difference in materials: Cellulose is made mostly from shredded newspaper and recyclable products, mixed with borate fire retardant chemical. McHale Insulation uses Thermolok Cellulose Insulation which meets or exceeds all federal insulation standards. Fiberglass is made with molten glass that is processed into thin fibers.

Is there a difference in price between the two?
Blown-in fiberglass is slightly more expensive than cellulose.

What is Radiant Barrier?
Radiant Barrier is a reflective material that reflects 97% of the radiant heat that strikes its surface back to the source. In other words, in the hot summer months, radiant barrier will reflect the sun's rays while retaining interior heat, and helps eliminate ice dams during the winter months.

Can you insulate existing walls?
Yes. We insulate existing walls by drilling a small hole (about the size of a quarter) through the exterior or interior of the wall, filling the wall with blown-in insulation product (either cellulose or fiberlass), and patching and priming each hole to reduce visibility.

What about payment?
No payment or even a down-payment is due until you are 100% satisfied with the job.

Are the Fiberglass batts that you use Formaldehyde free?
Absolutely.

What is Cellulose?
Thermolok InCide Cellulose Insulation is made from recycled newspaper* and 100% borate fire retardant chemical.

What about a Guarantee?
Cellulose is guaranteed for the life of the structure - that insulation will not settle or lose its R-Value for the existence of the structure. (Cellulose Only)

Do you offer senior discounts?
Yes, we offer 5% minimum discounts for seniors, depending on the scope and size of the job.
