How does insulation work?
Insulation works by providing a resistance to the flow of heat. Just like when you put on a jacket to help keep you warm in the winter, you want a blanket around your living space to help keep the cold out and heat in. In the summer months, you want your house to stay cool and comfortable.

What’s the difference between Cellulose & Fiberglass?
Difference in how it works: Cellulose is a closed cell product that is very dense and blocks heat out. Fiberglass is an open cell product that traps and holds heat within the body of the insulation.

Difference in materials: Cellulose is made mostly from shredded newspaper and recyclable wood-based products, mixed with borate fire retardant chemical. McHale Insulation uses 100% borate Cellulose Insulation which meets or exceeds all federal insulation standards. Fiberglass is made with molten glass that is processed into thin fibers.

Is there a difference in price between the two?
Blown-in fiberglass is slightly more expensive than cellulose.

What is Radiant Barrier?
Radiant Barrier is a reflective material that reflects up to 97% of the radiant heat that strikes its surface back to the source. In the hot summer months, radiant barrier will reflect the sun's rays. In the winter, it helps to eliminate ice dams.

Can you insulate existing walls?
Yes. We insulate existing walls by drilling a small hole (about the size of a quarter) through the exterior or interior wall covering, then pump in under a small amount of pressure dry borate cellulose to dense pack the cavities. We then patch the holes with appropriate material for covering. Fiber glass can also be used instead of cellulose in a BIB System (Blown In Blanket).

What about payment?
Payment in full is due upon completion of work unless other arrangements have been made and approved by Mchale's and yourself. In most cases, a down payment is not required. We do accept major credit cards but charge a 2% processing fee.

Are the Fiberglass batts that you use Formaldehyde free?
YES

What is Cellulose?
Cellulose Insulation is a wood-based fiber made from recycled newspaper* and cardboard with 100% borate fire retardant chemical.

What about a Guarantee?
Mchale's Environmental guarantees that Cellulose Insulation will not loose its R-value for the life of the structure.

Do you offer senior discounts?
Yes, we offer 5% discounts for seniors.
